For this first assignment, i try to portray my love of food through using the most common spices used in my home cooking – garlic & onion. i experiemented with them, but especially love the ’skins’ look, when scanned, as it provides a different feel and grace to it then the usual round garlic n onion. When scanned, the linear patterns stood out, in a gentle white glow. Each petal is hand peeled, thus to create a more natural image [as some will be curled, like the Real flower petals.] Eventually, i use them to form a flower, as reflective of my name, Jasmine.

Self-Assessment

The overall idea is to create a harmonious and inspiring  hook. The composition itself is pretty simple and balanced, yet boring. Hence, i explored a little with photoshop to portray it [slide p1 copy till p6 copy]. I try cropping, but i find it less appealing, and a little too plain. Thus, i kept the original composition [slide 15, with borders, and the flower in the middle, the slide adjacent to the slide with only a flower peeking from a corner] , giving myself 50 for effort, 25 for creativity. I do wish i could do more with the composition.

Peers Review

–To zoom in on a certain portion of it. [changing composition] -thanks meimei! — To use the onion circular pattern. [ tried at home, unfortunately, the rings fall apart..but come to think of it..yummy! onion rings!!]-thanks!  –play with the pieces, so it wont look so rigid. -thanks mr reddy!

Review for Peers work

–I like Mark’s work. It has this gentle oriental glow. [a bit bluish glow] The composition is nice.  I would give him 85/100. Overall, it gives a very comfortable feel, and the ‘odd one out’ leave/petal holds the picture well. Enduring beauty. =)
