Given “..live ….where only thing which is constant is change” , i was thinking..to induce change, or rather for change to incur…there got to be a constant factor/environment/subject/theme. Only then, will the change be a change amongst the constant and only so, there will be a contrast between the change and the constant, in order for the change to prevail.
Haha ignore the above if it’s confusing…its just how i started thinking about the theme and venture out for the shooting. With that in mind, ive thought of the constant theme–work. [tag: work to live; live to work.] Most of us would graduate and work for interest, for money, for status..for more and more reasons. Yet the bottom line-purpose, is we are working to seek a better living, or just basically to survive and i do like working haha =)
Thus i chose people [ generally all males, just to be constant ] at work, in the simplest yet functional living [work/job ] in order to portray the change against a simple constant-at work
LIVE TO WORK
Cobbler-at-work [f/5.6, 1/100sec, ISO 800]
Ice-cream man-at-work [f/5.6, 1/200sec, ISO 800]
Dishclearer-at-work [ Film-ISO 400]
Treecutter-at-work [f/6.3, 1/200sec, ISO 100]
{ the above 4 pictures depict man at work, in action-generally in tune with work pleasantly, despite the difference in job scope. It’s not the nature of work, it’s the attitude that determine the joy [ purpose ] of working. }
WORK TO LIVE

Wastecollector-at-work [f/5.6, 1/50sec, ISO 100]
Newspaperman-at-work [f/5.6, 1/160sec, ISO 800]
Constructionworker-at-work [f/6.3, 1/100sec, ISO 400]
Sweeperman-at-work [f/5.6, 1/25sec, ISO 100]
{ the above 4 pictures depict men at work, in action-generally in tune with work just contended, despite the difference in job scope. It’s not a choice to work, it’s the environment that determine the joy [ purpose ] of working. }
Generally, i do not depict change in a gradual course, but rather change in view of a common purpose.-to live. We got to work to live; but along the way we change our job/work for various reasons/goals to live better, we are actually also living to work [to be happier]. “…live …is constant is change” …the change itself may also be a constant. Live [constant] to work [change] ; Work [change] to live [constant]
Thats all for the story. It’s just personal view&interpretation within the pics.
Many thanks to those who’ve accompanied me this time- mum&dad[for driving sick me around places..woosh felt pampered, loved. =P] && cel&zm too.[for the long days but fun along the way haha homemade barley, i still like it =P]
Self Assessment
Well, for this task, i would give myself 52 for effort and 29 for creativity. My pictures are mostly men at work, not much variations of style, except playing with the dof. Its quite tricky, but this time round i used dslr most of the time hence i took 3-5 shots per person to get it. =] Moreover, my interpretation is pretty hard to portray in still images, so the message is not shown very strongly, and so no comments from peers. hmm sometimes its hard to decipher if this is a good or bad thing…i presume ave to bad. thus if possible, i would try to take more photos.
Peers review
Just remembered. thanks singuan! for the comment of the grouping of pictures with emotion..initially i link them with the tag, purely by feeling n own interpretation..but other than that not much comments.possibly my display is in the way…though i really like to do up my stuff in a nice way, for a nice setting of mood/atmosphere/feel to complete. haha but nah. i guess i willl take note of the ‘flappy’ cardboard the next time, it irks me then too.
Review for peers work
I love Paul’s pictures for both concepts, more for the human series though. Its interesting to see a break through his usual color-oriented style. Nevertheless, he did it well, making the pictures looking natural and captivating. Good work Paul-95/100 .Also, Im drawn to Mike’s pictures, they are beautifully taken, with emotions. Several pics like share share ok, pounce, the old man walking pass the van. He is able to capture the motion, or rather the instant too..which hmmph i still cant. But i got kinda lost in the midst of the story..and i got back at the later part. So, generally, i would give him 90/100. Besides these two, i also like Celeste’s status concept & Ivy’s portrayal of art, which are clear and nice. till today, i would be able to recall both. Nice =) 88/100

I like the cobbler, newspaper man and the construction worker. I feel your theme on change is actually quite clear… especially between the contrast of “Live to work” and “Work to live” as distinguished by the sad and happy faces. =)
